In Loving Memory of Don Pitkoff
Don Pitkoff was a beloved husband, father, veteran, artist, avid story teller, and an inspirational educator and mentor to countless students who attribute their careers to him. Most importantly, he was my cheerleader when it came to my children’s disease, PANDAS. Don checked in regularly on my son, Stefanos, and daughter, Melina, praying that their disease would get better. He gave Melina her first pastel set that had been his very own in High School, and while Stefanos was going through treatments in hospitals including Children’s Healthcare of Philadelphia, Mayo Clinic, and Detroit Children’s, Don would draw Stefanos cartoons every month for over three years.
I feel lucky to have had Don in my life for 37 of his amazing 95 years of life. I am grateful that he asked that donations in his memory be made to a worthy PANDAS organization. Please consider donating to SEPPA in Don’s memory so they can continue to educate medical professionals on how to diagnose and treat this horrible disease.
