About SEPPA

The Southeastern PANS/PANDAS Association is a group of medical professionals and parents who have teamed up to raise awareness of Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome (PANS) and a subset of PANS called Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorder Associated with Streptococcal Infections (PANDAS). We strive to support the medical community and caregivers in their efforts to heal and take care of children with PANS/PANDAS.

SEPPA works for children and families with PANS/PANDAS to expand access to timely, appropriate, insurance-based medical care in our region.

    Objectives:

    • None of the 1 in 200 children in our region with PANS/PANDAS go undiagnosed or without appropriate treatment.
    • Every pediatrician in our region knows how to recognize PANS/PANDAS symptoms and where to refer children for treatment.
    • Families who seek information about PANS/PANDAS can quickly access resources to find a provider, understand the diagnostic process and find support from other PANS/PANDAS families.
    • All facets of traditional medical care for PANS/PANDAS are covered by insurance: extended courses of antibiotics, intravenous immunoglobulin therapy (IVIG) and plasmapheresis (PEX or Plasma Exchange).
